Web Integrated School Management Information System: Case Study-Mt. Laverna High School
Abstract
The student result management information system was carried out to automate the
manual processes of compiling student’s examination results. It was necessitated due
to some setbacks in manual result processing. The system was designed to
automatically take raw scores from excel files and store them in a database. It used
past processed results to help the next subject registration prior to results upload. It's
result processing features includes the computation of Grade Point Average,
generation of results reporting sheets and report cards. Every session, it keeps track
of student’s status information as recorded in student files, specifying if a student is
legitimate. The database also holds the lists of admitted students each year and
records their school fees payment status. The methodology used to deliver the
project was the Incremental model using an object oriented programming approach.
In conclusion the Students Results Management Information System Application
was successfully developed, tested, and found to be working as expected. The
system was developed using PHP and MySQL. It has some qualities such as
reduction in the cost of processing, reduction in time spent in computing Grade Point
Averages/Cumulative Grade Point Averages, generation of report cards, and
elimination of duplicate records, which makes it superior to the manual system.
